Select the dropdown at the top of the material popover to access ‘Physical’ materials
Material properties
Physical Materials share the same base set of properties as Standard Materials:
- Color: Controls the color of the material
- Opacity: Controls how transparent it is
- Metalness: Controls how much it reflects its surroundings
- Roughness: Controls how glossy or matte it is
- Normal: Controls how lighting bounces off a surface. This requires a normal map to be uploaded to the Normal channel
but you can also add Advanced properties:
- Glass: Can be used to create glass or frosted glass look
- Thickness: Controls the thickness of volume beneath the surface
- Transmission: Controls how transparent it is
- Ior: Index of refraction (Ior) controls the refraction of light inside the object
- Sheen: Can be used for representing cloth and fabric materials
- Color: Controls the color of the sheen layer
- Roughness: Controls how rough or glossy the sheen is
- Clearcoat: Can be used to create car paint, carbon fiber, and wet surfaces. Adds a reflective layer on top of another layer
- Roughness: Controls how rough or glossy the reflective layer is
