Password protection allows people outside of the org to view and experience a file with a password. Users can generate or use a custom file password, and set expiration dates for files within an org.

Set a password

  1. Open the Share panel by clicking on the ‘Share’ button in the toolbar of the editor.
  2. Check ‘Enable viewer access for anyone with a password’ to enable password.
  3. Enter a custom password or auto-generate a password, and click ‘Set’. Note: Once you set the password, you won’t be able to see it again. You can copy the password to your clipboard with the ‘copy’ icon.

Set an expiration date

Optional: set an expiration date by clicking on the calendar icon. Access through the password for non-org people will be revoked once the password expires.

Remove password protection

You can uncheck the ‘Enable viewer access for anyone with a password’ to remove access with a password. Once this is removed, anyone without access to the file will be blocked from viewing the file.
